Wellington Friends of the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra
The Wellington Friends of the NZSO support the NZSO National Youth Orchestra and the NZSO Players' Programme. Friends enjoy a lunch-time symphony seminar series at the Bay Plaza with NZSO guest artists, private concerts, informal talks and presentations, and are also able to attend selected orchestral rehearsals.
Since its formation in 2000, the Wellington Friends have donated nearly $90,000 to the NZSO and the NZSO National Youth Orchestra. The latest donations funded the recently arrived bass drum and stand and also the sponsorship of the Concertmaster of the NYO ($7000) to mark 50th anniversary of the NYO. A tenor drum has been ordered and will shortly join its big brother in the back of the orchestra.
