Christmas is a time for sharing the most joyfully resplendent music. Join the NZSO and the wonderful Choirs of Auckland, Christchurch and Wellington for an inspiring start to the
Yuletide season.
Composers have responded to the sentiments of the season with music of soaring beauty, from the gentle pastoral dance of Corelli’s Christmas Concerto to Respighi’s exquisite, impressionistic portrait of the Nativity in his Trittico Bottecelliano. And providing some vocal fireworks in Mozart’s Exsultate Jubilate is the rising star soprano, Aivale Cole. The young New Zealander was the sensational winner of the Song Quest in 2009.
What would Christmas be without a choir of carollers with the NZSO? The gorgeous voices of New Zealand’s leading choirs will sing a selection of favourites, old and new, filling the atmosphere with the sounds of rejoicing from across the centuries.
