Alongside our schools visits, small groups from the NZSO will also be bringing music to people who are unable to engage with us in the concert hall. Whether by taking a string quartet into sheltered accommodation, or harps into hospices, through these visits the NZSO will reach more members of the New Zealand community than ever before.
“The residents really appreciated the opportunity to hear the quartet. Many of our hospital and dementia care residents are not able to go out to a concert and so this was a great opportunity for them to hear beautifully played music. We also appreciated the way the musicians introduced each piece and interacted with the audience…
Many residents commented afterwards on how great the music was and asked me if the Quartet would be coming back to play. One even told me the music made her cry...it was so lovely! Lastly, we were amazed at the effect of the music on our residents with dementia. Not one person lost concentration or wandered off during the performance” Activity Coordinator, Village at the Park residential home
