FREE* concerts for school students designed to introduce them to the sights and sounds of the symphony orchestra. Lively and informative, these concerts will take you on a musical tour through the orchestra with eclectic and exciting music and demonstrations and an interactive presentation which brings students into the thick of the action.
Every year the NZSO perform concerts specifically programmed to engage students from Year 5 through to Year 8. These concerts feature exciting pieces of music and are presented in a format that explore different functions and purposes of music within a variety of historical and social contexts.
Due to overwhelming demand in 2012, in 2013 the NZSO reserve the right to limit each school to a total of 100 seats to each performance if necessary.

The concerts are FREE* and advance booking is essential. Bookings will open early in 2013, so please check back then to secure your seats. These concerts are recommended for students from Year 5 through to Year 8
- Each concert lasts approximately 1 hour.
- Tickets are free and bookings are essential (NZSO reserve the right to limit each school to 100 tickets per booking if necessary)
- There must be a ratio of 1 adult per 8 children. Homeschool and special need groups should call 04 801 3862 to discuss flexibility to the child/adult ratio.

Capital E – Sky Dancer
2013 will see the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra combine with Capital E National Theatre for Children to present a new work titled Sky Dancer. With a story inspired by Witi Ihimaera’s novel of the same name, and a newly composed score by renowned composer Gareth Farr, this will be a very special event.

Please note the performance with Capital E National Theatre for Children will be a multimedia presentation including lighting, projection, actors and orchestral musicians.
