The NZSO is owned by the people of New Zealand. The Orchestra reflects the heritage and diversity of our country through commissioned works by New Zealanders, development of young players through our education programmes and by providing New Zealand's top musicians a full-time professional Orchestra to work in.
The Orchestra is a Crown Entity, funded by the Government, but in order to build its sound and quality, and to keep it accessible to all New Zealanders, extra funding is needed. Generous support from Sponsors and Supporters makes this possible.
All donations to the NZSO are processed through the NZSO Foundation. New tax changes mean that you can now make a donation of any amount to the NZSO Foundation, up to the level of your taxable income, and receive a rebate from the IRD of 33.3 cents for every dollar donated.
The New Zealand Symphony Orchestra Foundation - CC24274, is a registered charitable entity under the Charities Act 2005. For more information about The New Zealand Symphony Orchestra Foundation’s registration, visit the Charities Register at www.charities.govt.nz
