Meet... Ellen Murfitt
Education & Community Engagement Coordinator
Ellen (Ngāti Raukawa ki te Tonga) is violinist, music educator, and arts administrator based in Te Whanganui-a-Tara.
A graduate from the New Zealand School of Music – Te Kōkī with a Bachelor of Music (First Class Hons) in violin performance, she is actively involved in the local music scene and has most recently played as part of ensembles in Cuba Dupa, Fringe Festival, Pōneke Sessions, and Classical on Cuba.
When Ellen isn’t scheming with the NZSO Education team, she is teaching at Sistema-inspired music education programme, Arohanui Strings in Wainuiomata and Kōraunui (Stokes Valley).
Serving her communities in order to foster a rich and diverse Aotearoa is at the heart of all her work. He aha te mea nui o te ao? He tangata, he tangata, he tangata.
