10.30am – 11.30am Instrument Petting Zoo and NZSO Storytime live 

Children of all ages can explore the Instrument Petting Zoo, getting up close with various instruments and musicians of the Orchestra.

This will be followed by a performance of NZSO Storytime live – a selection of kiwi children’s book favourites accompanied live by members of the Orchestra.

12.00pm – 1.00pm Spark Like a Fire, Fly Like Bird - Choreography Workshop with Sarah Knox 

The Firebird is one of the most enduring orchestral and ballet works of all time. To celebrate our performance of Stravinsky’s seminal work. NZSO invites you to develop your choreographic skills with top New Zealand choreographic educator, Sarah Knox.

This fun and friendly workshop utilises the themes of fire and flight to explore solo and contact partnering movement. Participants will engage in creative tasking to generate their own movement vocabulary and work in small groups to develop choreography to share with one another.

Suitable for both studio and NCEA dancers of any dance style, aged 13 and over.

Sarah Knox is the co-founder of Trigger Dance and is a full time Lecturer in Dance Studies at the University of Auckland. She has 20 years of professional experience as a dancer, teacher and choreographer.

2pm – 3.30pm NZSO Foundation Masterclass

Come and learn more about the wonderful instruments of the symphony orchestra with musicians from your NZSO.  Principal Bass Trombone, Shannon Pittaway, leads a masterclass for aspiring young brass musicians.

4pm – 5pm Songs from the Stage: A Broadway Singalong Workshop

Looking forward to Sunday's Broadway Matinee concert? Join Georgia Jamieson Emms for a singalong workshop of much loved Broadway songs.

No knowledge of music required!
