Featuring music by Jonny Greenwood + Haydn
Hamish McKeich Conductor
Our Shed Series of concerts are a new way to enjoy the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra outside the traditional concert hall.
Each concert features timeless classics and contemporary works performed in the relaxed setting of Shed 6 on Wellington’s waterfront. Flexible seating means you can sit, stand or move around the venue while the Orchestra performs. Drinks are served throughout the concert from a first-class bar.
Our first Shed Series concert in April was so popular it sold out and we had to turn people away at the door. Make sure you don’t miss out on tickets!
Juxtaposition, the second concert in Our Shed Series on Friday, 1 June, features Haydn’s Symphony No. 60 alongside works by some of the most exciting composers alive today.
English composer Jonny Greenwood is best known as lead guitarist and keyboardist of hit band Radiohead. He is also a sought-after composer for film. The NZSO, led by conductor Hamish McKeich will perform his Suite from the film There Will Be Blood.
Estonian Arvo Pärt is one of the most performed living classical composers in the world. Along with concerts and recordings, his music is often used in film and television, including the haunting Fratres, which is performed by the NZSO.
Michael Norris is an award-winning New Zealand composer, whose works have been performed by orchestras and ensembles in New Zealand and overseas. A suite of real-time audio effects he created have been used by top recording artists including Brian Eno and Aphex Twin. The NZSO will perform his 2008 work Heart Across the Night.
