Come along and listen to the Storytime series and read along with the books. We've even got tents to hang out in!

Performances at 10:45am, 11:15am and 11:45am

We're delighted to welcome NZSO principal harp Carolyn Mills to perform her short Major/Minor piece for local school children and general public.

Afterwards, get up close to the instruments with 3 different music making stations complete with hand percussion for children to interact and experiment with.

1pm – 2.30pm

NZSO Foundation Masterclass with Stephen De Pledge

Renowned New Zealand pianist Stephen De Pledge will deliver a masterclass to young musicians. Join us to learn more about the piano in action. Members of the public are welcome to observe!

3pm – 4.30pm

NZSO Foundation Masterclass with Andrew Joyce

NZSO Section Principal Cello Andrew Joyce will also deliver a masterclass to young musicians. This event is also open to the public and free to attend. This masterclass sees National Youth Orchestra players Jack Moyer, Benjamin Carter, and Benjamin Sneyd-Utting workshop solo repertoire for the cello.

5pm – 5.45pm

Take the Lead! with Gemma New

Rather than the usual pre-concert talk, this interactive session will include a 15 minute Q&A with Gemma New about being a conductor, some top tips on how it all works, and the opportunity for you—the audience—to have a go at conducting Mozart's Eine Kleine Nachtmusik.

Ravelation String Quartet

2020 winners of the Wallace Foundation Platinum Award, Ravelation, will perform the 1st Movement of Ravel's String Quartet in F. . The group is made up of Sheena Lin, Peter Gjelsten, Shanita Sungsuwan and Jack Moyer. Having rehearsed every weekend in preparation for the Chamber Music New Zealand competition the four bonded, and still enjoy playing chamber music together.
