Due to the current Covid-19 restrictions, the NZSO has made the decision to cancel its Setting Up Camp tour to Dunedin and Invercargill this month.

The Orchestra was to perform Town and Country in Dunedin and Invercargill on 24 and 25 September, along with the daytime concert Peter and the Wolf on 23 September and 25 September in each city. A daytime Relaxed Concert in Dunedin on 24 September has also been cancelled.

We know that audiences in Otago and Southland will be disappointed that the concerts will not go ahead. Each performance had previously been postponed in March because of Covid-19 restrictions.

Due to the size of the concerts, each can only be performed to a live audience at Alert Level 1. A return to Alert Level 1 is uncertain this month.

We are determined to perform in Dunedin and Invercargill this year, and your Orchestra is working hard to see if it can bring other concerts to both cities before Christmas.

The NZSO has added new South Island dates, which includes Dunedin on 7 November, for our hit Four Seasons tour—featuring performances of Vivaldi’s famous The Four Seasons and tango composer Astor Piazzolla’s The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires.

As soon as we can confirm additional concerts in Dunedin and Invercargill this year, we will contact you.

We continue to be grateful for the patience and understanding of our Dunedin and Invercargill audiences this year.

We will return.

Kia kaha.
