Born in Queensland, Australia, violinist Amy Brookman received a Bachelor of Music (2009) and
Master of Music Studies (2010) from the Queensland Conservatorium. She is a 2014 graduate
from the Australian National Academy of Music where she studied with Adam Chalabi and Dr
Robin Wilson.
Amy is passionate about chamber music and is a founding member of Melbourne’s Penny
Quartet. In 2014 she was nominated for the Freedman Classical Fellowship and was also the
recipient of the John and Rosemary Macleod Travelling Fellowship. She has worked extensively
with the Melbourne, Queensland, and Tasmanian Symphony Orchestras as well as the
Melbourne Chamber Orchestra and the Australian Chamber Orchestra. Amy has also performed
as a soloist at the Canberra International Music Festival and with the ACO Collective of which
she is a current member.
Amy was delighted to move to Wellington in 2019 to start her new role as Associate Principal
Second Violin with the NZSO.
