Experience the orchestral power of your national symphony orchestra in three exciting live performances of popular classical hits including Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf, narrated by popular New Zealand composer Gareth Farr, Vaughan Williams’ Fantasia on Greensleeves, Rimsky-Korsakov’s Flight of the Bumble Bee, and Mendelssohn’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
The event – called Capital 150 – marks the first sitting of Parliament in the city on 26 July, 1865, and will include free public access to more than 30 national institutes and shows.
In addition to three free concerts with the NZSO, it will include a tea party in the grounds of Parliament, and a light show alongside a headline performance by the Orpheus Choir and singer Dave Dobbyn.
