Executive Assistant to Chief Executive

You will be responsible for providing a high level of proactive executive and administrative support to the Chief Executive and Board, as well as the Head of People and Capability and Head of Corporate Services as required.

Founded in 1946, the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra is the country’s national professional orchestra and one of the few touring orchestras in the world, performing in many cities and towns around New Zealand each year.

You will be responsible for providing a high level of proactive executive and administrative support to the Chief Executive and Board, as well as the Head of People and Capability and Head of Corporate Services as required.

Key responsibilities include diary management, meeting and event coordination, preparation of agendas, papers and minutes, drafting correspondence and travel and accommodation coordination.

This is a varied and busy role that will draw on your organisational and relationship management skills; you will be proactive, professional and commercially astute and will enjoy the breadth, variety and fast pace that the NZSO can provide.

To get the most out of this role you will have exceptional interpersonal skills, a sense of humour and be a forward planner who can identify and action opportunities to help or make improvements. 

Person Profile:

  • Proven experience providing efficient and effective administrative and secretarial support
  • Exposure to governance and Board processes would be highly advantageous
  • Ability to problem solve, use initiative and display sound judgement
  • A strong commitment to delivering excellent customer service
  • A keen eye for detail coupled with a high degree of accuracy
  • Outstanding relationship building skills with the ability to relate to people at all levels
  • Very highly developed written and oral communications
  • Demonstrated ability in a range of IT applications, including intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office
  • The ability to anticipate needs, self-manage and work under pressure at busy times
  • Demonstrates a high level of maturity, integrity and confidentiality
