Sub-Principal Horn 4

We are inviting expressions of interest for the position of Sub-Principal Horn 4 for the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra.

Open to both local and international musicians.

The NZSO is at the pinnacle of orchestral achievement in New Zealand and is recognised as an orchestra of international standing. We continue to grow and develop artistically, taking a challenging and varied programme of music to communities throughout New Zealand. One of the world’s oldest national symphony orchestras, we have charmed audiences with memorable concerts and recordings for over 70 years.

Application Requirements

Candidates should be suitably qualified and experienced for the position and be willing to relocate permanently to New Zealand. All candidates must prepare and submit the following:

  • A current C.V. including contact details of two professional referees
  • A filmed audition recording of the required excerpts as per the Audition Requirements document located on our website and within the application jotform. Required excerpts can be found here


  • Recordings must be unaccompanied and must be video and audio
  • Recordings must not be edited (other than cuts between excerpts)
  • Recordings must all be recorded on the same day, in the same venue.
  • Each excerpt should be submitted in a separate file, with filenames as per the Audition Requirements document.
  • We recommend using a high quality microphone in a professional recording environment.
