Sub-Principal Percussion

We are recruiting for the position of Sub-Principal Percussion.

These auditions are open to New Zealand and Australian candidates only.   

IMPORTANT DATES

  • Live Applications close: Monday 25 February 2019
  • Recorded auditions due by: Monday 18 February 2019
  • Live audition date: Monday 4 and Tuesday 5 March 2019 (Wellington, New Zealand).

LIVE CANDIDATES

Live auditions will take place from 10.00am on Monday 4 March 2019 in Wellington, New Zealand. Candidates may also be required to be available on Tuesday 5 March 2019. Candidates will be advised on arrival at the audition which excerpts will be required. The New Zealand Symphony Orchestra tunes at A440. Auditions will be unaccompanied.

RECORDED CANDIDATES

If you are unable to travel to Wellington for the live auditions, you may submit a filmed audition recording (must be video and audio). However, due to the complexities of recording percussion instruments, should you wish to submit a recorded audition, all recordings should be carefully reviewed for sound quality before submitting,

We recommend using a high-quality microphone in a professional recording environment. 

Please note:

  • Auditions must be recorded unaccompanied
  • Recorded auditions must not be edited (other than cuts between excerpts)
  • Recorded auditions must all be recorded on the same day, in the same venue.

SUBMISSION OF RECORDINGS

Only recordings that follow the audition requirements will be accepted.

  • All recordings must be sent electronically at https://form.jotform.co/nzsoauditions/percussion2019.The format must be one of the following:  .mp4, .mov or .wmv.
  • Each solo and excerpt must be submitted as a separate file, with filenames as per the Audition Requirements document. Please do not include your name anywhere within the recording files themselves.
  • Recorded auditions are due by Monday 18 February 2019.

Recorded auditions are due by Monday 18 November 2018. Only recordings that follow the audition requirements will be accepted.

FURTHER INFORMATION

The successful candidate/s will be invited to play for a trial period with the orchestra. Possible trial dates include 26 March - 5 May 2019.
