Co-Concertmaster
NZSO is at the pinnacle of orchestral achievement in Aotearoa New Zealand and is recognised as an orchestra of international standing. We continue to grow and develop artistically, taking a challenging and varied programme of music to communities throughout Aotearoa New Zealand. One of the world’s oldest national symphony orchestras, we have charmed audiences with memorable concerts and recordings for over 75 years.
We are seeking expressions of interest for the position of Co-Concertmaster here at the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra.
Requirements
The musician we’re looking for demonstrates:
the highest level of ability and musicianship
outstanding communication skills
exceptional leadership qualities;
the Co-Concertmaster must have the required skillset to lead the orchestra in partnership with our Concertmaster both on and off the stage.
an understanding of NZSO’s role as the National Touring orchestra of Aotearoa New Zealand
willing to relocate permanently to Aotearoa New Zealand

Further Information
Applications will be shortlisted, and the candidates of interest will be asked to supply recorded examples of their playing. Recordings must be video and audio and can be new or existing material recorded within the past 2 years. Recordings should demonstrate artistic leadership, stylistic range, and the level of musical expertise required for the role. There will be no set repertoire for this round. The panel will review recordings and invite a shortlist of candidates to an online interview before an invitation to trial is considered.
