Pam Jiang
First Violin
Originally from Guangzhou, China, Pam began playing the violin at the age of four.
Pam pursued her studies at the Attached Secondary School of Xinghai Conservatory of Music in her home city. At the age of sixteen, she made her solo concert debut at Xinghai Concert Hall.
She has competed in numerous national and international violin competitions, including Yfra Neaman Wettbewerbs International Violin Competitions in Germany and the Wieniawski International Violin Competition in Poland, winning several significant awards.
In 1999, Pam was awarded a scholarship to attend the Casalmaggiore International Music Festival in Italy, where she also performed a solo recital. In 2002, she moved to New Zealand, to study at Victoria University of Wellington's School of Music.
In 2006, Pam was selected to participate in the prestigious Pacific Music Festival in Japan, playing under Maestro Valery Gergiev. At this festival, she took masterclasses from the principals of the Berlin Philharmonic, Vienna Philharmonic, and leading orchestras in the US.
Pam was appointed Principal First Violin (Third chair) with the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra in 2007 before joining the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra in 2010.
In my spare time, I love to stay active with Zumba classes and indulge in my creative side by baking and decorating cakes for friends and family.
