Hailing from Upper Hutt, Rachel has held the position of Principal Bass Clarinet with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra since 1995.

She has recorded for both Radio New Zealand and Re-Sounz and performed as a soloist with various local orchestras.

As a chamber musician, Rachel has performed with the Zephyr Wind Quintet in a series of concerts showcasing New Zealand works and recently concluded a nationwide tour with the Aroha String Quartet.

My favourite things about playing in the NZSO are having wonderful, friendly colleagues both onstage and behind the scenes, playing a wide variety of music (I especially love opera and ballet) and meeting audiences all around the country.

Her least favourite thing is the never-ending quest for the perfect reed!
