From the first, instantly recognisable notes of Grieg’s Peer Gynt Suite No. 1, audiences with be transported to a serene and tranquil morning before they are then whisked away to the Viennese countryside with Beethoven’s Pastoral Symphony — a beloved celebration of nature and harmony. Briar Prastiti’s The Garden, a vibrant new work commissioned through the NZSO/SOUNZ Tarling Trust.
Wellington, Blenheim and Nelson audiences will also be treated to NZSO Concertmaster Vesa-Matti Leppänen performing Mozart’s Violin Concerto No.5, a vibrant work with a touch of inspiration from the Turkish culture of the time.
Nelson, Auckland and Kerikeri audiences will hear Haydn’s Military Symphony, with all the pomp and grandeur of the ‘military’ second movement
