Alex Xuyao Bai performs in Creepy-Crawly Carnival.

Alex Xuyao Bai is a Year 10 student at Dilworth School in Auckland. His current piano teacher is Stephen De Pledge. He embarked on his piano journey at the tender age of 5, taught by Tianhui Zhuang in California. He has also learnt from Able Zhu and Bryan Sayer in Auckland, Michael Endres in Christchurch, and Xin Wang in Germany. His musical odyssey has taken him to prestigious stages worldwide, including performances in the Great Hall of the Auckland Town Hall, appearances as a piano soloist in the Chinese Spring Festival Gala in China as the winner of NZ International Star Idol for Kids and Teens, recitals in Archen, Bad Münstereifel and Eschweiler in Germany, and collaborations with the renowned New Zealand Symphony Orchestra and Auckland Philharmonia. Now, nearly 15, Alex has won top honours in local and international competitions in UK, USA, and Italy. His achievements, such as securing a Trinity LTCL distinction at 11, being the youngest-ever winner of the Lewis Eady National Piano Competition in 2024, and recently receiving the second prize of the International Piano Competition Kronberg, Germany, underscore his remarkable talent.

Alex's mastery extends beyond solo piano performances; he delights in chamber music with his friends at NZCT competitions and the retirement villages concerts, showcasing a harmonious blend of artistic collaboration. Beyond the piano, Alex is a versatile musician, mastering the clarinet and violin in his leisure time. A sports enthusiast, he excels in basketball and cross-country.
