Anna Pierard
Mezzo-soprano
Anna Pierard performs in Messiah.
Anna Pierard developed her career as a versatile operatic and concert mezzo-soprano/soprano. She gained her MMus from London’s Guildhall School of Music and Drama before relocating to Amsterdam, where she performed several roles to great acclaim at De Nieuwe Opera Academie.
Now based in Hawkes Bay, Anna performs predominantly with Auckland Philharmonia and NZ Opera including a wide range of works by Puccini, Strauss, Beethoven, Mascagni, Eve de Castro Robinson, Wagner and Soloist in Jack Body’s ‘Carmen: Songs and Dances of Desire’, which she recorded with the NZSO. Her appearances with the NZSO include Mezzo and Soprano soloist in Handel’s Messiah in 2012 and 2019; Soprano soloist in the 2014 NZSO Dr Who Symphonic Spectacular, and Siegrune in Wagner’s Die Walkure.
In 2013, Anna co-founded Festival Opera and The Prima Volta Charitable Trust, which deliver music programmes and performances dedicated to promoting wellbeing across many age groups and diverse backgrounds.
