Bring the kids on a trip to Fairyland with the NZSO! André de Ridder will work his magic over this entertaining musical romp for the whole family.

Hansel and Gretel, two intrepid child adventurers who encounter a candy house and a wicked witch, are immortalised in music by two different composers. New Zealander Claire Cowan wrote the music to RNZB’s hugely successful Hansel and Gretel ballet, while German composer Engelbert Humperdinck wrote his own blockbuster based on the same fairytale, the 1893 opera Hänsel und Gretel. John Williams’s score for the Harry Potter films reveals a world of friendly witches and wizards, ready to sweep you away on a magical adventure. 

Pre-concert activities

There are FREE pre-concert activities including face-painting, a colouring-in station, a photo-booth and a bouncy castle! These events run from 12.30pm on the day of the concert.
