Emerging Artists

Our Emerging Artists concert offers two fantastic opportunities for school students to perform with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra.

Concerto Soloists

The Concerto Soloists category of the NZSO Emerging Artists programme provides school students with the opportunity to perform as soloists with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra.

Up to six successful applicants will be selected to perform a movement of their chosen concerto in a concert at the Michael Fowler Centre.

Orchestral Instrumentalists

The Orchestral Instrumentalists category of NZSO Emerging Artists provides the opportunity for selected school students to perform two orchestral works in concert at the Michael Fowler Centre.

Successful applicants will also have two one-hour coaching sessions throughout the year to assist with learning the repertoire.

2026 Emerging Artists dates

Tuesday 22 September – rehearsals  
Wednesday 23 September – dress rehearsal and concert
