Concerto Soloists

The Concerto Soloists category of the NZSO Emerging Artists programme provides school students with the opportunity to perform as soloists with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra.

Up to six successful applicants will be selected to perform a movement of their chosen concerto in a concert at the Michael Fowler Centre.

It was definitely one of the most memorable opportunities collaborating with the NZSO where I was greatly inspired by the energy and passion that was created by playing together. Everyone was welcoming and respectful which allowed me to experience this great opportunity to the fullest!

Orchestral Instrumentalists

The Orchestral Instrumentalists category of NZSO Emerging Artists provides the opportunity for selected school students to perform two orchestral works in concert at the Michael Fowler Centre.

Successful applicants will also have two one-hour coaching sessions throughout the year to assist with learning the repertoire.

I really enjoyed the 2023 Emerging Artists because I got to play alongside the NZSO horns. It was a beneficial experience for me as I could be apart of and see first hand how a professional orchestra operated and acted. I also got lunch with the NZSO horns afterward and overall it was an inspiring experience.
