Dunedin City Choir

City Choir Dunedin is the second-oldest choir in New Zealand. The choir has performed under various names, including Scholar Cantorum and City of Dunedin Choir, before adopting its present name in 2013 to mark its 150th anniversary.

Its singers range in age and come from all walks of life, united by a shared passion for choral singing. The choir aims to be ‘a choir of note’ in New Zealand, performing classics from the choral repertoire alongside major new works by New Zealand composers.

City Choir Dunedin enjoys working with young, aspiring soloists and welcomes opportunities to perform with other choirs, including Christchurch City Choir and Auckland Choral Society.

The choir usually performs in four or five concerts each year. It regularly performs with the Dunedin Symphony Orchestra and occasionally with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra.
