Alumni fundraise in London for National Music Centre

Putting in the hard mahi to raise funds for the National Music Centre in Wellington isn’t exclusive to Aotearoa New Zealand.

On 9 June in London talented alumni of Victoria University of Wellington and the New Zealand School of Music—Te Kōkī gathered at the home of acclaimed Kiwi singers Geoff Sewell and Simone Lanham to fundraise and spread the word on this unique music venture.

Guests were treated to live spontaneous performances by NZSM alumni Kate Oswin (violin), Benjamin Carter (piano), and Rhonda Browne (contralto), who are forging their way on international stages, as well as Victoria University alumni Carleen Ebbs (soprano) and Geoff Sewell (tenor).

The evening was made possible by generous event partners who gave their time and produce to create a special evening.

The catering was courtesy of New Zealand Chef and entrepreneur Melanie Brown from The Laundry in Brixton. Guests also appreciated the generosity of New Zealand vineyards Te Kano and Te Kairanga, and Kiwi Jimmy Walsh from UK-based Lowrise Brewery.
