Lucas Baker

Wellington-born and raised, Lucas holds a Bachelor of Music with First-Class Honours in violin from the Te Kōkī-New Zealand School of Music.

Prior to joining the NZSO as Education and Community Engagement Executive, Lucas has built a diverse career as a performer and educator. He is a passionate Acrobatic Arts instructor at acrobatic dance specialists SWPT, a core player with Orchestra Wellington, and a freelancer with orchestras across Aotearoa.

Returning to the NZSO is a full-circle moment for Lucas, having participated in several of the orchestra’s education programmes as a student. He is excited to now help nurture and inspire the next generation of young musicians through the NZSO’s work across the country.
