Michaela Cadwgan
Soprano
Michaela Cadwgan is an award-winning soprano from Aotearoa New Zealand who has performed with leading opera companies and orchestras across Australasia, including New Zealand Opera, Victorian Opera and Wellington Opera. She is the 2026 New Zealand Opera Freemasons Foundation Company Artist and two-time recipient of the Victorian Opera Prize (2024 and 2025).
Recent highlights include Miss Jessel in Victorian Opera’s The Turn of the Screw, for which she received high praise, and the title role in New Zealand Opera’s touring production Red!, which reached more than 12,000 children through 45 performances across the North and South Island.
Michaela was a Reserve Finalist in the Herald Sun Aria (2025), received awards at the IFAC Handa Australian Singing Competition Finals (2023), and was Runner-Up in the Lockwood New Zealand Aria Finals (2022).
